SUMP Guidelines available now

The European Commission's Action Plan on Urban Mobility calls for an increase in the take-up of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in Europe. To meet this need, new SUMP Guidelines have been produced within the Eltisplus SUMP project. The document explains how to develop and implement a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.

MOVE Project reaching out to Turkey and Poland

MOVE partners organised two outreach workshops to disseminate the research and the lessons of experiences to organisations outside the consortium. The MOVE Outreach Workshop on "Disaster Risk Management and Vulnerability Assessment: EU – Turkey Experiences Exchange" was held on 15-16 September 2011. In Poland, the MOVE outreach workshop was embedded in the meeting of the CHANGES project in Stryszawa on 22 September 2011.

The 9th BAPTS partner meeting took place in Liège, Belgium on 9 June 2011. The BAPTS partners took advantage of the opportunity offered by this meeting to organise the day before a half-day conference on various aspects of the introduction of a tram network in the city and region of Liège, the hosting partner. In addition, the new Northwest Europe cluster project, SYNAPTIC – including BAPTS and three other NWE projects – was officially launched.

“ELAN Youth on the Move” – CIVITAS-ELAN Youth Congress

From 24 to 26 May 2011 the ELAN City of Brno hosted the first ever Youth Congress held within the CIVITAS Initiative. Eight pupils aged between 15 and 17 from each ELAN city gathered in Brno to experience a fun and productive get-together learning more about sustainable public transport and CIVITAS-ELAN.

PRESTO cycling workshop in Zagreb

PRESTO held a cycling workshop on 8 and 9 December 2010 in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb for exchange with European cycling specialists on relevant aspects of interchange bicycle stations, cycling in pedestrain areas, safe cycling and bicycle promotion campaigns as well as the promotion of pedelecs (eletrically assisted bicycles) in the specific context of New Member States and EU Candidates. BAPTS at Open Days

Under the motto "Think global, act local: Territorial cooperation of cities and regions for European model solutions on clean urban transport", some 100 European experts, politicians and researchers discussed first results of the European transnational cooperation project at the BAPTS workshop. The workshop was part of the official programme of the OPEN DAYS 2010 - the European week of citries and regions. The OPEN DAYS were held in Brussels on 4-7 October 2010 for the eigth time. This time, this major European event attracted over 6,000 representatives from 240 regions.
