Urban Mobility Practitioners from Germany, Austria and Southern Tyrolia Meet In Cologne

22.06.2012

On 20 June 2012, 33 urban mobility practitioners followed the invitation by Rupprecht Consult and Austrian Mobility Research (FGM-AMOR) to a Workshop on “Urban mobility in the European Context” in Cologne.

The event – which was held in German and co-funded by the European CIVITAS Initiative (<link http: www.civitas.eu _blank>www.civitas.eu) - served a means to exchange information on EU-programmes and strategies for the period 2014-2020. It also offered a chance for city representatives, city associations, research institutions, and companies to discuss a stronger exchange and cooperation among of urban mobility stakeholders from the German language area. Workshop participants confirmed their strong interest in establishing a Network for Urban Mobility Stakeholders from the German language area, i.e. Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the German-speaking parts of Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland. The idea to establish a German CIVINET similar to the already existing CIVITAS networks CIVINET España y Portugal, CIVINET Francophone, CIVINET Italia, CIVINET Slovenija, CIVINET UK & Ireland and CIVINET Dutch was well-perceived.
