Rupprecht Consult at Urban Mobility Days 2020

02.10.2020

Rupprecht Consult had the pleasure to attend, present, and contribute to the organisation of the first ever Urban Mobility Days conference, which this year took place as a virtual event over 29 September - 2 October.

"What’s next for urban mobility in the EU?" asked the opening plenary of the first ever Urban Mobility Days conference. To achieve climate neutrality by 2050, we need a 90% reduction in transport emissions. Policy reforms are much needed, while boosting resilience against future uncertainties. The presentations and expert panel discussions that ensued over the course of the days that followed illustrated the progress made in this direction through numerous SUMP and CIVITAS 2020 projects, as well as explored what is still needed, and the financial instruments to realise these goals. The programme featured the following projects in which we are involved: <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project civitas-satellite.html external-link-new-window external link in new>SATELLITE, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project sunrise.html external-link-new-window external link in new>SUNRISE, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project inclusion.html external-link-new-window external link in new>INCLUSION, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project sumi.html external-link-new-window external link in new>SUMI, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project sumps-up.html external-link-new-window external link in new>SUMPs-Up, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project dynaxibility4ce.html external-link-new-window external link in new>Dynaxibility, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project gecko.html external-link-new-window external link in new>GECKO, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project low-carb.html external-link-new-window external link in new>LOW-CARB, <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project reveal.html external-link-new-window external link in new> ReVeAL, and <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project vitalnodes.html external-link-new-window external link in new>VitalNodes. "How do we develop arguments for the cost-effective nature of sustainable urban mobility aspects? Should cities adopt targets? How detailed should those targets be?" asked moderator Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director General of DG MOVE, in the closing plenary. Siegfried Rupprecht as keynote speaker kicked off the panel discussion among Elke Van Den Brandt (Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Brussels Capital Region), Lilyana Pavlova (Vice-President, European Investment Bank), and Miguel Gaspar (Deputy Mayor for Mobility, City of Lisbon) by presenting some ideas, while posing and answering important, related questions such as "How can we do more with less?" While meeting online instead of in person has its drawbacks, this virtual format allowed greater participation and a simple means to record the sessions for posterity. If you missed certain presentations or sessions, information and recordings will be published <link http: www.eumd.org external-link-new-window external link in new>here.
