NAPCORE (National Access Point Coordination Organisation For Europe) is an EU project that aims to harmonize and better coordinate the national central platforms for traffic data in Europe. The objectives of NAPCORE are (1) optimized interoperability of National Access Points through common data standards, (2) improved access and availability of mobility data through better coordination and harmonization of National Access Points, and (3) strengthening of National Access Points and National Agencies through common processes and strategies.
The general objective of this action is to empower the National Access Points (NAPs) as the backbone for ITS digital infractructure. Also, it will facilitate national and EU wide operational coordination for the harmonisation and implementation of the European specifications. Its specific objectives are to create a coordinated European mechanism of National Access Points based on a coordinated governance and architecture, interoperability, standards, and services.
Content towards the harmonisation of NAPs will be prepared by five Working Groups, supported by horizontal activities.
On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), the project coordinator, Rupprecht Consult manages the project secretariat.
