Kick-off for the feasibility study of cross-border SUMPs

28.02.2024

Rupprecht Consult and Panteia, in collaboration with representatives from the Dutch cities of Enschede, Almelo and Hengelo, and Osnabrück and Münster in Germany, have initiated a feasibility study to develop a regional cross-border Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in accordance with the revised guidelines of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The project commenced on 30th January 2024 with a meeting in Almelo.

In the coming months, we will carry out a thorough process of data collection, which will include both desk research and interviews with key stakeholders in the region. The purpose of this exercise is to gain a deeper understanding of local requirements, challenges, and opportunities in relation to cross-border Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs).

The outcome of this study will be a comprehensive report that identifies areas of synergy and common goals, while also providing a roadmap for the development and implementation of SUMPs in the region. Based on the analysis of the data and insights gained from the interviews, the report will also include recommendations for future actions and strategies.

We are eagerly anticipating the results of this cross-border study and how it will help to drive the development of sustainable urban mobility in the transnational region.
