Shared Mobility Indikatoren München

The City of Munich has partnered with Rupprecht Consult, Populus and O.Trend to support its climate-neutral Mobility Strategy 2035 by improving the management and performance of shared mobility services. For this purpose, Rupprecht Consult leads the development of a scientifically grounded indicator system that helps to assess the effectiveness of these initiatives, ensuring the city's progress toward its ambitious mobility goals. The project leverages the Populus Mobility Manager Platform to collect and analyse real-time data from shared mobility services like bikes, e-scooters, and other shared vehicles and O.Trend GmbH supports the project with their expertise in surveys and their analysis.

Project goal

The goal of the project is to support Munich’s Mobility Strategy 2035 through a set of tailored indicators to monitor and assess the specific contributions of shared mobility. The way in which this can happen is based on the expectation that truly attractive shared mobility options might reduce people’s dependence on their privately owned cars. Whether, to what extent and why this effect materialises, is an important question, which the indicator set should help to answer.

Results

Rupprecht Consult has analysed a broad range of strategic policy documents to identify important goals and targets of the City of Munich. Our team has also conducted a global search for inspirational practices about existing indicators on shared mobility and has developed a set of explicit quality criteria of good indicators.

Planned outcomes include the refinement of an indicator system by Rupprecht Consult in close collaboration with other project partners, especially with colleagues in the city administration of Munich to ensure the indicators’ maximum relevance.

Rupprecht Consult will also coordinate related data gathering activities by our partners Populus and O.Trend. Our team will also manage the analysis of such data and of existing statistical data of the City of Munich to feed the final set of indicators. We will also support Munich in the presentation and communication of the results and related insights.

Role of Rupprecht Consult
