SUMP Conference Groningen 2019: Successful presentation of the new guidelines

26.06.2019

Last week the latest conference on SUMP took place in Groningen and the Rupprecht Consult team was well presented with several presentations, the introduction of the new SUMP Guidelines and feedback sessions on the new concept.

In the cycling city Groningen hundreds of experts came together last week to talk about Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning at the SUMP Conference. Rupprecht Consult was well presented at the conference, with two sessions, a plenary presentation and several other contributions in parallel sessions. Over 500 stakeholders participated when the Guidelines were presented by Siegfried Rupprecht in the opening plenary. Afterwards, the SUMP community was invited to discuss and provide comments in two interactive sessions, that were organised and moderated by Lasse Brand and Lisa Marie Brunner. Over 100 people took the chance and contributed valuable feedback in the group discussions, where positive comments as well as detailed feedback were provided, showing that the draft has been validated by practitioners. Before the final publication of the guidelines at the CIVITAS Forum Conference in Graz, 2 - 4 October 2019, Rupprecht Consult will put a lot of effort in integrating all the feedback and working on good practices, tools and further horizontal topics. Until 9th of July, we still welcome and encourage feedback on the guidelines through the online survey <link https: qeurope.eu.qualtrics.com jfe form sv_9hmxutbwcj6bhqf>qeurope.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9HmxUtbWcJ6bHQF, that will also be considered and integrated during the summer. Especially people who couldn’t attend the conference still have the chance to take part in the development process of the new guidelines. In addition, the new SUMP Guidance on Connected and Automated Driving as well as Electrification were presented by Wolfgang Backhaus in two parallel sessions. With the background of the <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project sumi.html external link in new>SUMI project, Susanne Böhler moderated the session on “Measuring SUMP impact and indicators” and presented the current status of <link https: www.rupprecht-consult.eu project sump-kyiv-podilskyi-district.html external link in new>SUMP Kiev in a side session of Urban Mobility Planning practice examples. The new SUMP Guidelines and all 15 related Topical Guides are available online for download at <link https: www.eltis.org guidelines second-edition-sump-guidelines>www.eltis.org/guidelines/second-edition-sump-guidelines.
