In the framework of the development of several SUMPs in various municipalities in the Canary Islands, the conference was organised by the Public Works, Transport and Housing Council of the Canary Islands government, in order to provide to participants with an integrated vision of policies related to mobility and transport.
In that sense, our team member Katy Huaylla participated in such important conference with a key-note presentation on the development and implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) and the challenges in the process. She also took part in a discussion table together with other mobility experts from various Canary Islands municipalities such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Santa Lucía. At the same time, Katy Huaylla also took part in interviews for the media, newspapers and TV, in regards to sustainable urban mobility, new mobility solutions for instance the BRT, which is currently in development in the city of Las Palmas, and new approaches for planning for instance the SUMP methodology and the New Version of the SUMP Guidelines released just a few weeks ago, to address current and future mobility needs with a focus on increasing accessibility and quality of life or all.
