Joint TIDE and SOLUTIONS Workshop: Cutting-edge solutions for advanced cities

The workshop took place on the 28th May at the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum

The European TIDE and SOLUTIONS projects closely cooperate with leading cities that have implemented innovative measures and are willing to share their advanced experience and knowledge with interested learning cities. In return, TIDE and SOLUTIONS want to offer these pioneer cities a platform to discuss cutting edge solutions with their peers.The TIDE and SOLUTIONS workshop on "Cutting-edge Solutions for Advanced Cities" during the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum allowed advanced cities in urban mobility innovation to gain new insights via exchange with other leading cities in Europe, and recognised urban mobility experts.The workshop offered participants:- insight in societal trends that shape the future of transport in European and global cities- insight in key urban transport innovations, presented by those early adopters who have implemented the measuresThe workshop was broken down into three sessions:1) Cutting-edge solutions for cities: creating context for innovation - chaired by Karen Vancluysen, PolisSpeakers included:- Welcome by Alessandro Damiani, Head of Unit, Horizontal Aspects - Transport Directorate, DG Research & Innovation, European Commission- Introduction to the TIDE and SOLUTIONS projects (Karen Vancluysen, Polis and Oliver Lah, Wuppertal Institute)- Daring to transform transportation for the good of everyone (Patrick Oliva, Michelin)- Changing mobility patterns (Rico Wittwer, TU Dresden)- Using gamification and social media to change behaviour (Andrew Nash)2) Cutting-edge cities bilateral exchange - chaired by Bernard Gyergyay, Rupprecht Consult3) Cutting-edge solutions for cities: city testimonials - chaired by Oliver Lah, Wuppertal InstituteCities included:- Amsterdam, Rick Batelaan- Copenhagen Electric, Mette Hoé- Stockholm, Jonas Ericsson- Leipzig, Kerstin Löbel- Brighton and Hove, Austen Hunter- Rotterdam, Arjan OranjeThe results of this workshop will be summarised in the TIDE report: "Implementing highly innovative cutting-edge solutions".
