Discover how the DISCO Urban Freight Data Space is turning innovation into action!
On November 5, 2024, we organised a webinar under DISCO project “From Theory to Practice: Demonstration and Planned Development of the DISCO Urban Freight Data Space (UFDS).”
This event highlighted the transformative potential of data spaces in urban logistics, emphasizing interoperability, data sovereignty, and secure collaboration.
Data spaces are central to the DISCO project's vision for urban logistics, as they enable secure, efficient data exchange while preserving data sovereignty. This foundational capability is essential for optimizing urban freight systems, improving decision-making, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to achieve sustainability and operational efficiency goals.
The session included a live demonstration showcasing outputs from DISCO Living Labs such as Copenhagen, Ghent, and Thessaloniki as well as a Geodata Visualizer App for real-time data analysis, illustrating the platform's ability to optimize urban freight operations. Attendees explored how UFDS fosters scalable and adaptable data ecosystems, enabling seamless data sharing and dynamic urban space management. Future plans for the platform include enhanced security measures, enriched datasets, and broader collaboration through metadata brokers and vocabulary hubs. With its Physical Internet (PI) approach, the DISCO project aims to support the EU's 2030 climate goals by transforming urban logistics into a cleaner, more efficient system.
