On January 22, 2025, a workshop on the topic "Digitalization of Mobility in the Regional Context" took place in Aachen. The event was organized as part of the mFUND project Ac-DatEP in collaboration with the City of Aachen. The focus was on exchange and networking among municipal stakeholders working intensively on the topics of digitalization and mobility. The aim was to gain valuable insights for the development of a roadmap that provides municipalities with concrete guidance and practical solutions for the successful digitalization of mobility.
The event provided interesting insights and a lively exchange of ideas. It began with four practical presentations: Simon Himmel from the City of Aachen spoke about their approach for citizen participation, Torsten Merkens from FH Aachen highlighted the opportunities for regional cooperation in the Aachen metropolitan area, Ingo Lenzen from the City of Mönchengladbach presented approaches for effective data governance, and Doha Boutarfa from go.Rheinland GmbH introduced the multimodal data hub NRW for integrating mobility data. In the subsequent exchange in a World Café format, participants discussed the use case "Monitoring of Mobility Indicators in the Functional Urban Area (FUA)." Success factors were identified, as well as challenges and potential solutions. The outcomes of the workshop will contribute to the development of a roadmap, offering municipalities practical solutions and guidance for the digitalization of mobility. If you want to know more, stay tuned for the release of the roadmap this spring! The workshop clearly emphasized the importance of exchange and collaboration for a sustainable and digital mobility future in the regional context.
