SMMR

The ASEAN-German cooperation SMMR project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the consortium on behalf of German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The project has the overall objective to support ASEAN Member States to mainstream strategies and concepts for integrated, sustainable mobility into their planning and governance practices. It uses a multi-level approach, working locally, with three partner metropolitan regions, as well as on the national and regional / ASEAN levels.

Project goal

The project has the overall objective to support ASEAN Member States to mainstream strategies and concepts for integrated, sustainable mobility into their planning and governance practices.

Results

The main expected outcomes of this project are: 

  • Output A: Cross-boundary working groups in partner metropolitan regions – metropolitan transport planning and execution governance structures
  • Output B: Cross-boundary Plans, Measures & Projects
  • Output C: Regional dissemination and capacity development
  • Output D: Implementation of the ASEAN Transport Strategic Plan

Role of Rupprecht Consult

We develop a policy paper (‘Green Paper’) that introduces the SUMP concept, benefits and requirements for implementation to policy makers in medium-sized metropolitan areas throughout ASEAN, and in particular in the SMMR partner metropolitan regions.
