TRANSFORuM Thematic Workshops

16.09.2013

The dates and locations for this years thematic workshops have been confirmed!

During the 2nd half of 2013, TRANSFORuM will organise four separate Thematic Workshops, by each thematic White Paper goal, on good practice under the heading "Transformation is possible!" The purpose of these events is to identify stakeholder needs towards roadmaps, recommendations and the strategic outlook, which are the three main outputs to be developed by TRANSFORuM. We have recently secured the location and dates for our first thematic workshops!
  • The first Thematic Workshop on <link http: www.transforum-project.eu urban-mobility.html _blank>Urban Mobility will be held in Oslo, Norway on 24-25 October 2013. Norway and specifically the Oslo region are well known for their achievements in supporting alternative fuels and particularly electric mobility. Workshop participants will visit relevant sites where they can get in touch with the reality of alternative mobility on Oslo’s streets, and meet a number of people that are responsible for ongoing clean transport-related projects in the city and surrounding areas.
  • The first Thematic Workshop on <link http: www.transforum-project.eu freight.html _blank>Freight will be held in Basel, Switzerland on 25-26 November 2013. The Basel port is not only of great importance for the Swiss economy in general, but it is an excellent example of linking inland shipping, rail freight and road freight. Workshop participants will be given the opportunity to visit Innovatrain, a novel freight terminal close to Basel where transshipment between road and rail freight is handled in a very efficient way.
  • The first Thematic Workshop on <link http: www.transforum-project.eu highspeed-rail.html _blank>Highspeed Rail will be held in Lyon, France on 21-22 November 2013. France has been a pioneer of building a comprehensive network of highspeed rail lines which is still being expanded and Lyon is an excellent location to appreciate that network. In addition to the workshop discussions, participants will be given the opportunity to visit a depot located close to Lyon where a significant share of the maintenance work for the French highspeed trains is carried out.
  • The first Thematic Workshop on <link http: www.transforum-project.eu its.html _blank>ITS will be held in Reading, England on 11-12 November 2013. Reading, a member of the Co-Cities project, as well as London, with its comprehensive Oyster system, offer a range of innovative solutions of integrated traveller information systems. They also are good examples of integrated tariff and ticketing schemes which participants will be given the opportunity to experience during the site visit.
