Rupprecht Consult develops factsheet about the 15 minute city concept for the NetZeroCities community

23.05.2023

As a member of the NetZeroCities consortium, we are honoured to have the privilege to develop a fact sheet about the 15 minute concept, as it can play an important role on the way to carbon neutral cities and is thus of interest for the 100 “Mission Cities” who have pledged to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

The 15-minute city concept promotes the idea of having essential services within 15 minutes of people's homes – ideally by foot, bicycle but also by public transport. The adoption of the concept can contribute immensely to carbon reduction goals, since it allows for fewer and shorter trips, primarily through active mobility modes. It can therefore play an important role on the way to carbon neutral cities and is thus of interest for the 100 “Mission Cities” who have pledged to reach carbon neutrality by 2030 and who are being supported by the NetZeroCities project.

Rupprecht Consult is a member of the NetZeroCities consortium to contribute its expertise with all issues related to sustainable mobility. We are honoured to have the privilege to develop a fact sheet about the 15 minute city for this group of world leading cities. This document is now available at https://netzerocities.app/resource-3278. Through this guidance document we hope to not only help cities become carbon neutral but also to improve accessibility, safety, public health and social equity, to name just a few of the numerous co-benefits of a 15 minute city.
