Foundation of the CIVITAS network for the German-speaking regions of Europe in Frankfurt/Main on 6 November 2013

11.11.2013

On 6 November 2013, stakeholders from the German-speaking regions of Europe founded the association “CIVINET deutscher Sprachraum“ at the HOLM Forum in Frankfurt.

CIVINET is part of the CIVITAS initiative – <link http: www.civitas.eu _blank>www.civitas.eu–, which was established by the European Union in 2002 and aims at promoting and supporting clean, innovative and sustainable solutions as well as ambitious strategies for environment-friendly mobility in Europe. The elected members of the management board, Gerhard Ablasser (City of Graz), Michael Glotz-Richter (City of Bremen), Gregor Moss (City of Bielefeld) and Dr Georg Werdermann (City of Aachen) emphasised the importance of CIVINET for urban actors. CIVINET creates access to a European interest group, which aims at following innovation strategies for urban mobility in the dialogue of European developments. CIVINET members can – in their mother tongue - get to know and better assess concepts and experiences of other cities as well as European mobility policies and plannning concepts and their effects on the members‘ own situation. Chairman of the board Michael Glotz-Richter called upon representatives from politics, administrations, universities and organisations involved in urban mobility to become members of the German-speaking CIVINET and to actively co-design the dialogue on urban mobility of the future and to discuss new results of European research promotion and available funding instruments with colleagues. Information on the association “CIVINET deutscher Sprachraum“ is available from Dr Susanne Böhler-Baedeker (Rupprecht Consult Forschung & Beratung GmbH, Köln) and Fred Dotter (Forschungsgesellschaft Mobilität - FGM-AMOR gGmbH) via the email address <link>civinet_deutschsprachig@civitas.eu.
