The final event of the STARS project focused on sharing findings and providing an outlook on the potential of car sharing concepts in European countries. Our colleague Ralf Brand joined the conference and brought back many new insights and contacts.
Affordable housing is an issue of increasing importance – and so is the modernisation of our mobility system. A conference in Bremen, organised by the European STARS project, focused on the nexus between these two challenges. Its speakers demonstrated how a new approach to mobility in housing developments can reduce construction costs and at the same time increase the satisfaction and quality of life of residents. The primary reason for the reduction of housing costs through innovative mobility concepts is the possibility to save thousands of Euros that would otherwise have to be spent on the construction of underground parking spaces; these can easily account for 10 to 15 % of the construction costs. As always, however, the devil is in the detail, which requires the exchange of experiences at the international level.+49 221 6060 55 18
