A productive 3rd consortium meeting for CoEXist

22.05.2018

Held on 14-16 May 2018 at the Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg, Sweden.

On 14th of May 2018, activities began with internal work package specific meetings to discuss further details on the development of the tools that are to be produced within CoEXist. Among the many discussions, the partners had a chance to have a first discussion on the possible metrics that can be assessed to estimate the impacts caused by the introduction of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) in the CoEXist use cases. In a broad sense, these would include qualitative and quantitative metrics that can be used to assess the impacts with regards to traffic efficiency, safety, and space efficiency. On the second day, 15th of May, the consortium meeting was held where all the partners gave updates on their CoEXist-related and other automation activities. Dr. Steven Shladover as one of the project's advisory members was in attendance and gave a presentation updating the consortium about the US Department of Transportation (US DOT) projects that are twinned with CoEXist. As one of the main objectives of the 3-day meeting, the consortium held internal workshops to further develop the use cases and scenarios that are to be tackled within CoEXist. This dealt with further fine-tuning the measures that are to be investigated through transport modelling and traffic simulation within the use cases. The meetings concluded with a guest presentation from the COPPLAR project that is mainly being carried out in Gothenburg.
