The updated Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) Guidelines will be officially launched at Urban Mobility Days 2025 in Vilnius.
The session “SUMP Guidelines: what’s new?” will take place on 30 September 2025, 17:00–18:15, with contributions from Wolfgang Backhaus and Morgane Juliat.
As explained in a recent interview with Dr Susanne Böhler-Baedeker and Dr Wolfgang Backhaus, the revised guidelines aim to support cities in addressing today’s mobility challenges. SUMPs enable integrated planning across sectors and regions, helping cities to improve safety, air quality and accessibility. With more than 400 EU urban nodes now required to adopt SUMPs under the TEN-T regulation, the updated framework comes at a crucial time.
The 2025 edition introduces several enhancements, including stronger guidance on cross-boundary planning, expanded focus on urban logistics, improved monitoring and evaluation tools, and updated case studies to provide practical examples for cities.
