Rupprecht Consult joins Klimaerklärung Köln: Together for a climate-neutral Cologne 🌿

Sustainability is not only the goal of our projects, it’s the heart of everything we do. This principle guides our daily actions, from how we design mobility solutions to how we operate as a company.

We are proud to announce that on November 4, 2025, we officially became a partner of Klimaerklärung Köln during the Sustainability Meetup #2 in Cologne. Our colleague Cristina Redinger supported this partnership by developing Rupprecht Consult’s internal climate action plan (Klimaerklärung 2025), which outlines our sustainability measures and commitments.

Klimaerklärung Köln is a growing network of companies and organizations that share the vision of creating a climate-neutral Cologne by 2035. The initiative fosters collaboration between science, business, and local policy, encouraging the exchange of best practices and the joint development of climate-friendly strategies.

By joining this partnership, we reaffirm our strong commitment to sustainability - both through its European projects and through tangible measures implemented within the company itself.

Our actions so far

We have already taken several steps to reduce our environmental footprint and act more responsibly in our daily operations:

• Relocation to a smaller office with a more sustainable concept - saving approx. 8.5 t CO₂e per year

• Switch to green electricity and an energy-efficient building

• Public transport subsidy – Deutschland Ticket

• Monitoring the climate impact of our IT and server infrastructure

• Bike leasing subsidy – JobRad

• Resource-conscious catering at events

• Business travel:

  • Reduced emissions through consistent train travel

  • Fewer in-person meetings to minimize travel

  • Compensation of unavoidable flights

Our next steps

Starting in 2026, Rupprecht Consult will continue to actively reduce its environmental footprint by purchase of refurbished hardware whenever possible and using of a sustainable bank for financial operations, among other actions aimed at making our daily operations more climate-friendly and responsible.

Each of these steps is part of our ongoing journey to make sustainability a lived reality within our projects, our partnerships, and our daily work.

As a Cologne-based company, we believe that meaningful change begins locally. By joining Klimaerklärung Köln, we’re strengthening our connection to the city and contributing to a collective effort that moves us all closer to a climate-neutral and livable future.
