Rupprecht Consult has started the first workshop as part of the Istanbul SUMP Stage II/Implementation Project. The event began with an opening speech by Melda Horoz, the Director of Transportation Planning for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Following this, there were presentations from Wolfgang Backhaus, the Managing Director of Rupprecht Consult, and a local expert, Ersoy Pehlivan. They discussed the SUMP cycle and Istanbul’s current mobility conditions. The latter part of the day was devoted to group discussions, where participants talked about governance and institutional cooperation, resilience, stakeholder participation and engagement, data availability, and the overall challenges in mobility topics in Istanbul. The workshop served as an excellent starting point for the planned future learning and capacity building activities within the project.
