The highly successful SUMP Learning Programme 3 came to an end with its third workshop in Budapest. 24 participants from cities all around Europe discussed sustainable urban mobility planning, with a focus on action planning, monitoring and implementation. As icing on the cake they got the chance to visit the control centre of the driverless metro in the end - and to ride with it of course.
The workshop, which was organised in the context of CIVITAS SUMPs-Up's learning programme, started with a welcome speech by Zoltan Nyul, Director of Strategy and Innovation of our host BKK Centre for Budapest Transport. Tünde Hajnal from BKK then introduced their work in more detail, giving an overview both of Budapest's SUMP and of the implementation of their most important measures.
The main focus of the workshop lay on interaction and exchange of experiences between the participants. In three group sessions they discussed how to create political support and gain approval for measures, how to conduct action planning, and how to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation during implementation of measures. Having gone through a dedicated online course on these topics in the weeks before, they discussed their experiences with the concrete "homework tasks" they had gotten. A lively workshop that once more proved the value of direct exchange between the practitioners wokring in city administrations - and the good group spirit of Learning Programme 3, whcih will surely lead to more exchange and common projects between the participants even after the end of the course.
